Indian athlete Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in the men's decathlon at the Asian Games after scoring 7934 points. He won the final 1500-metre race with a timing of 4 minutes and 33.09 seconds. Yuma Maruyama of Japan took the gold medal with 8123 points, while Chen Xinghua of China won the silver medal with 8012 points. This is Tejaswin's second medal at the Asian Games, following the silver he won at the previous edition. The competition this year was tougher than the last edition, where he secured silver with 7666 points and the gold went to Sun Qihao of China with 7816 points.

Day One and Day Two Events

Tejaswin had a slow start on the first day by clocking 10.98 seconds in the 100-metre event to earn 865 points. He bounced back to top the long jump with a distance of 7.53 metres, though it stayed behind his personal best of 7.82 metres from the Commonwealth Games 2026. He then recorded 13.16 metres in the shot put for 677 points and built a strong lead by clearing 2.18 metres in the high jump for 973 points. After gaining 881 points in the 400-metre race, he finished the first day leading the points table. On the second day, he set a new personal best in the javelin throw with 53.37 metres but struggled in the discus throw with 36.77 metres. Despite missing out on upgrading his past silver, Tejaswin wrapped up a strong season that included two major medals, a new national record, and crossing the 8000-point mark.
