Ten people are missing after an avalanche struck the Himlung Himal mountain peak in Nepal. The incident happened in the Nar Phu region of the Manang district. The peak stands at 7,126 metres high. The missing group includes mountain climbers as well as support staff.

Official Details

Rishi Bhandari, who serves as general secretary of the Expedition Operators Association Nepal, confirmed the incident. Two of the missing people worked with Imagine Nepal Private Limited. The other eight people were connected with Himalayan Holidays Nepal.

Search and Rescue

Ram Krishna Lamichhane, director general of Nepal's Department of Tourism, stated that officials are keeping a close watch on the situation. Authorities are currently trying to collect more information and organize search and rescue operations for the group. Government bodies have issued warnings about potential avalanches and flash floods since September 22 because of heavy snowfall and continuous rain in high-altitude mountain areas. This disaster happens just weeks after another major avalanche caused a flash flood that killed nearly 1,400 people in the Rasuwa district of Nepal.
