Market Opening

Indian stock markets are likely to open on a negative note on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as GIFT Nifty signaled a muted start. Gift Nifty traded around the 22,663 level, down nearly 110 points or 0.48 percent from the previous close of Nifty futures.

Monday Recovery

This follows a strong rebound on Monday where benchmark indices broke a four-session losing streak. The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 482.92 points or 0.66 percent to close at 73,606.75, recovering from an intraday low of 72,514.57. The NSE Nifty 50 advanced 153.20 points or 0.68 percent to settle at 22,753.20. Before this recovery, the Sensex had dropped 1,605 points and the Nifty had fallen 546 points over four consecutive sessions through Friday.

Analyst Views

Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, noted that equity markets remain cautious due to elevated crude oil prices with WTI crude near 101 dollars per barrel. Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking added that while Monday provided relief through lower-level buying, geopolitical uncertainty and interest-rate concerns continue to weigh on sentiment. Sachin Gupta of Choice Equity Broking stated that the Sensex immediate support lies between 72,500 and 73,000, with resistance near 74,000 to 74,400. Vatsal Bhuva of LKP Securities pointed out that the Nifty found key support near the 22,300 to 22,400 zone.

Global Cues

Meanwhile, Asian markets traded broadly higher on Tuesday. South Korea's KOSPI jumped 3.89 percent to 5,682.02, boosted by semiconductor sentiment linked to reports that US-based AI developer Anthropic is exploring an initial public offering. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 1.9 percent with gains in Kioxia and SoftBank, while Taiwan's Taiex index gained 0.66 percent to 46,516.18. US stock futures also started the week solidly, with the Dow rising 150 points, the S&P 500 up 0.7 percent, and the Nasdaq gaining 0.8 percent ahead of a US Federal Reserve meeting.

Context

Stock market indices often fluctuate based on a mix of domestic buying patterns, global technology trends, and international commodity prices like crude oil. Geopolitical developments in the Middle East and upcoming central bank meetings frequently alter investor risk appetite across global financial exchanges.
