Market Rebound

Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Friday, bouncing back to close at 73,896 and 23,140.50 respectively. According to Livemint, the Nifty 50 index finished lower for the seventh straight week, which marks the longest losing streak for the index in the last six years. The Nifty declined nearly 0.88 percent to close at 23,140, while the Bank Nifty fell 1.38 percent to finish at 55,580. Meanwhile, the Sensex lost 1.13 percent, or 843 points, over the last five trading sessions.

Driving Factors

Geojit's Vinod Nair stated that strong domestic liquidity is helping hold the Nifty above the 23,000 mark. At the same time, elevated crude prices and ongoing foreign money outflows continue to limit near-term market gains. Market experts note that the Nifty has formed a bearish candle on the weekly chart, suggesting a risk of breaking below key support levels at 23,000 and 22,800.

Context

Stock markets naturally fluctuate based on a mix of local buying power, global oil prices, and foreign investor flows. When foreign funds pull out, local cash often acts as a cushion to help stabilize domestic share prices.
