Representative image · PexelsFrench carmaker Renault has launched a much-awaited turbo-petrol version of the Triber MPV in India, with prices ranging from Rs 7,84,900 to Rs 8,99,900. Compared to standard naturally aspirated variants, the new turbo models cost between Rs 94,550 and Rs 1,11,295 extra depending on the trim, while keeping the entire price bracket under Rs 9 lakh. The model is available in Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants, while the base Authentic trim stays exclusive to the older engine.
Performance and Specs
The vehicle uses a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder 'HR10' turbo-petrol engine that makes 100 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. A new Renault Engine Management System helps the MPV produce more torque than both the Kiger and Duster SUVs that use the same basic motor, aiding with overtaking, inclines, and heavy loads. A 5-speed manual gearbox handles transmission duties, while a CVT option will arrive later. Renault claims a 0-100 kph sprint time between 10.8 and 10.9 seconds and a certified fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl.
Platform and Ride
The Triber turbo sits on a newly introduced Renault Group Entry Platform, a heavily reengineered version of the CMF-A architecture that uses 10 percent more high-strength steel to improve structural durability. To improve ride comfort and stability, engineers added front and rear anti-roll bars, multi-valve damper technology, revised suspension geometry, and optimized braking calibration. It also gets a revised thermal management setup with a brushless DC cooling fan for precise temperature control.
Features and Space
Inside, the cabin keeps the black and beige theme and flexible seating layout, offering five, six, or seven-seat setups with Easy-Fix third-row seats, sliding and reclining second rows, and one-touch tumble access. External changes are minimal, featuring a tailgate turbo badge and an identical look apart from that, while ground clearance stands at 182 mm. Boot space reaches up to 625 litres in the five-seat setup alongside 23 litres of interior storage. Standard safety kit includes six airbags and 21 features, with variants adding front parking sensors, a rear camera, tyre pressure monitoring, automatic climate control, and an eight-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Context
Compact multi-purpose vehicles like the Triber often struggle for power when fully loaded with passengers, making performance updates a common industry step to attract family car buyers. Upgrading underlying platforms alongside engine changes allows manufacturers to improve safety and ride quality without altering a vehicle's core exterior dimensions or cabin flexibility.
