Renault India has introduced a new turbo petrol engine for the Triber seven-seater MPV, with prices starting at Rs 7,84,900 and going up to Rs 8,99,900 ex-showroom. The vehicle arrives in three manual variants named Evolution, Techno and Emotion, while the entry-level Authentic stays exclusive to the naturally aspirated engine. Compared with equivalent naturally aspirated models, the turbo carries a price premium ranging from Rs 94,550 to Rs 1,11,295 depending on the specific variant.

Performance And Engineering

Under the hood sits a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TCe turbo petrol engine that delivers 100 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. Autocar India notes that the unit can push the vehicle from zero to 100 kph in 10.8 to 10.9 seconds. A new Renault Engine Management System handles performance and efficiency, while certified fuel economy reaches 21 kmpl. The turbo model also introduces the Renault Group Entry Platform to India, which uses 10 percent more high-strength steel for better structural durability. Beneath the familiar exterior, the car features revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology, and a brushless DC cooling fan.

Features And Practicality

The MPV preserves its modular cabin layout with five, six and seven-seat configurations, supported by Easy-Fix third-row seats and sliding second-row seats. Six airbags and 21 safety features come as standard equipment across the lineup. Interior storage spans 23 litres alongside up to 625 litres of boot space in the five-seat setup, while ground clearance stands at 182 mm. Depending on the variant, equipment choices include an eight-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging and a Smart Access Card. Externally, a dedicated turbo badge on the tailgate helps distinguish the new model from its naturally aspirated counterpart.

Context

Automakers frequently introduce turbochargers to smaller engines to extract higher power outputs without moving up to larger engine displacements. The Triber represents a major sales driver for Renault in India, accounting for over half of the brand's monthly volume. Bringing a more powerful engine option addresses frequent customer feedback regarding load-hauling performance on highways and inclines.
