Photo: Openverse - wikimediaBajaj Auto posted a 35 percent jump in its standalone net profit for the September quarter. Revenue from operations hit a record ₹20,003 crore during this period. Strong export numbers helped drive this massive growth. The company fought off higher costs for raw materials by raising prices and selling a better mix of products. Strong sales of electric vehicles, such as the Chetak scooter, also helped boost profits even though the local Indian market showed mixed results.
Consolidated Figures
For the larger group as a whole, net profit shot up by 62 percent to reach ₹3,436.1 crore. Total revenue for this consolidated entity came in at ₹25,125.6 crore.
Context
Companies often rely on overseas markets to protect their overall sales when home demand goes up and down. Selling a mix of higher-priced products and electric vehicles is a common way for automakers to keep their profit margins safe when raw material costs start to climb.
