Photo: Openverse - wikimediaSubros shares jumped 10 percent on Wednesday, 28 October, after the company won a major order from Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The deal is worth around 1,225 crore rupees and covers supplying HVAC assemblies for the YM3 and YU0 vehicle models over a seven-year life cycle.
Business Impact
Subros stated that this new contract will strengthen its business footprint in the western region and deepen its long-term partnership with Maruti Suzuki. The company operates as India's sole integrated maker of automotive air-conditioning and thermal products, supplying components like compressors, condensers, and heat exchangers to cars, buses, trucks, and railways.
New Innovation Centre
Alongside the order, Subros set up the Subros Advanced Technologies and Innovation Centre, known as SATIC, in Noida. Located in Sector 136, this facility works on advanced automotive thermal management, digitalisation, and sustainable mobility technologies like vehicle electrification.
Context
Automotive component makers often rely heavily on large vehicle manufacturers for long-term supply contracts of this scale. Investing in research and development facilities helps these suppliers adapt as carmakers shift toward electric vehicles and tighter energy efficiency norms.
