The ruling Congress party in Karnataka has suffered a major setback by losing all four seats in the recent Legislative Council elections. The opposition JD(S) won the Bengaluru Teachers' Constituency, while its ally the BJP kept hold of the other three seats. The BJP secured victories in the North-East Teachers', South-East Graduates' and West Graduates' constituencies by defeating the Congress candidates.
Reactions
Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy reacted to the results by congratulating the Prime Minister and the winning NDA candidates. He stated that the victory came with a big margin due to hard work for national development, adding that educated graduates and teachers in Karnataka voted for the work done by the Prime Minister. Kumaraswamy also claimed the verdict shows voters feel the current Chief Minister only gives assurances without implementing them, and predicted that voters will support the NDA alliance in the year 2028.
Context
