Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped the final preview for Dune: Part Three, marking the final movie in the futuristic film series directed by Denis Villeneuve. The project features leading performances by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. The new footage came out on October 27.
Plot Details
The story takes place nearly twenty years after Paul Atreides takes charge of the Imperium. As emperor, he now faces uprisings, political plots, and the heavy toll of his religious war. The script draws from the 1969 book Dune Messiah written by Frank Herbert. The trailer shows a growing split between Paul and Chani, portrayed by Zendaya, who steps up as a key player in the plot against him. Plagued by thoughts of his empire falling apart, Paul has to deal with the results of his past choices while opposition grows across space.
Cast and Characters
The video gives viewers a first look at Robert Pattinson taking on the role of Scytale, a shape-shifting Face Dancer who serves as a main villain from the original book. The clip also shows the first glimpses of Paul and Chani's young twin children, Leto II and Ghanima, brought to life by Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke. Returning cast members include Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. Other notable actors in the large cast are Charlotte Rampling and Isaach de Bankolé.
Release Schedule
Villeneuve handles the directing duties and wrote the script together with Brian K. Vaughan. The filmmaker has noted that this movie acts as an epilogue to the first two parts, featuring a distinct mood and a heavier focus on political drama. Legendary Pictures produced the feature alongside Warner Bros. Pictures and Image Nation Studios. International screenings kick off on December 16, 2026, with the Indian premiere set for December 18.
Context
Denis Villeneuve previously brought the first book to the big screen in 2021 and followed it with a sequel in 2024, earning widespread praise and multiple Oscar nominations. This third film rounds out his big-budget adaptation of the famous book franchise created by Frank Herbert. Moviegoers often wait years between major cinematic installments like this due to the massive scale of visual effects and production required.
