A group of five wild elephants has been spotted roaming through paddy fields in Sagar taluk, surprising local residents. The animals were seen moving across Kudigere, Nadavalli Sampalli, and nearby villages.
Elephant Sighting
Villagers noticed the animals raiding standing crops and quickly recorded videos of the herd. Residents immediately alerted Forest Department officials about the unexpected arrival.
Official Action
Forest Department staff have launched efforts to guide the elephants back into their forest habitat. Officials urged local residents to stay alert and cooperate fully with the team during this safety operation. Senior department officials noted that this area lies on a route the animals use regularly and that the herd tends to visit when the paddy crop is ripe. Local residents stated that they had not seen elephants in the region for several years.
Context
Human-wildlife conflicts often increase when wild animals move through agricultural lands searching for food, especially during harvest seasons. State forest departments routinely conduct tracking and driving operations to safely return stray animals to nearby protected forests while ensuring public safety.
