A new sports car called the Michelotto Gruppo Four Tributo revives the classic wedge shape of the Ferrari 308 GTB without wearing a single Ferrari badge.

The Build And Power

Longtime Ferrari motorsports specialist Michelotto built the car in partnership with AC Motorsport, a newer firm founded by a former Michelotto employee. The road car pays homage to Michelotto's past work preparing the 308 for Group 4 rally racing, though this new version is set up purely for tarmac work. The foundation uses a tubeframe chassis with a built-in roll cage, covered by a carbon composite body. It features a naturally aspirated, all-aluminum 3.4-liter V-8 engine that makes 380 horsepower at 8250 rpm. Power goes through a five-speed dogleg manual gearbox, and the car includes pop-up headlights.

Weight And Price

Thanks to its carbon-fiber body and simple powertrain, the car weighs just 2094 pounds. While official prices have not been fully detailed, prices are expected to be high and production levels low for this classic-inspired machine.

Context

Michelotto brings more than half a century of experience building race cars, including competition versions of classic supercars like the F40 LM. Small coachbuilders and racing specialists often build low-volume tribute cars for collectors who want raw, mechanical driving experiences without modern electronic driver aids.
