Pune-based team PBG Racing has partnered with Ducati for the upcoming third season of the Indian Supercross Racing League. Ducati will join other major bike makers like Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, and Yamaha on the racing grid.
Race Format
Season three runs from December 2026 to February 2027 and features seven competing teams across three rounds, though specific cities have not been announced yet. Races take place on dirt tracks set up in city centres with steep jumps and obstacles. While the first two seasons held three racing classes, organizers are adding a fourth category this year. The new class uses 250cc bikes and is open only to Indian riders, helping local talent enter the sport.
Team Details
Bike makers are taking on bigger roles this season through title sponsorships. Ducati joins PBG Racing, backed by the Punit Balan Group, and will supply the Desmo450 MX and Desmo250 MX bikes. Honda previously announced a similar deal to sponsor BB Racing. Ducati India Managing Director Bipul Chandra noted that the brand first brought its offroad program to India during the Season 2 finale in Calicut.
Context
Supercross is a form of motorcycle racing held on specially built dirt tracks featuring sharp turns and high jumps, demanding high skill and bike control. Bringing major global manufacturers directly into team sponsorships helps build local motorsport culture and provides better professional gear and training pathways for Indian racers.
