Shares of healthcare services provider Sagility are expected to see high volatility as promoter Sagility B.V. plans to sell a 12 percent stake through a block deal worth about ₹2,377 crore. The promoter will offload shares at ₹42.45 each, which marks a 5 percent discount to the previous close.
Shareholding Pattern
At the end of the September quarter, Sagility B.V. held 2,38,51,29,151 shares, giving the promoter a 50.95 percent stake in the firm. This is lower than the 67.38 percent stake held in the same period last year, as the promoter has steadily cut its holding over time. Meanwhile, mutual funds hold a 15.13 percent stake and retail investors own 16.1 percent.
Financial Performance
For the June quarter, the firm posted a 46 percent year-on-year jump in net profit at ₹217 crore, up from ₹149 crore a year ago. Revenue from operations grew 27.6 percent to ₹1,963 crore, while the firm also added 27 new clients to reach a total client base of 109.
Context
Block deals allow large institutional investors or promoters to buy or sell large blocks of shares outside the open market through separate trading windows. Such transactions are common when major stakeholders want to reduce their holdings while minimising sudden price crashes on the main exchange.
