Action saga Dhurandhar The Revenge is set for its television premiere on Star Gold on Sunday, October 18, at 7:00 pm, after completing a successful theatrical and OTT run. Because the film originally received an 'A' certificate for cinemas, the makers had to submit it to the Central Board of Film Certification once again to secure a television-friendly version suitable for younger viewers.

CBFC Certification

The Central Board of Film Certification passed the film with a U/A 16+ certificate on September 24. A trade source reported that the makers were asked to make 45 to 50 cuts, with almost all modifications targeting extremely violent and gory scenes. The source added that the makers smoothly edited out the disturbing moments while keeping the overall impact of the film intact.

Runtime Changes

According to the CBFC website, the newly revised U/A 16+ version has a duration of 219 minutes and 6 seconds, making it 3 hours, 39 minutes and 6 seconds long. The original theatrical version had a runtime of 229.6 minutes, which equals 3 hours, 49 minutes and 6 seconds. This leaves the television broadcast version exactly 10 minutes shorter than its theatrical release.

Cast And Crew

The Dhurandhar series is directed by Aditya Dhar and stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. It is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar's B62 Studios alongside Jyoti Deshpande's Jio Studios. The plot follows an Indian spy who sneaks into a dangerous gang in Karachi, Pakistan, and creates havoc. While the first film released on December 5, 2025, the sequel arrived in cinemas on March 19, 2026, and both titles emerged as massive box office hits.

Context

Television broadcasts in India frequently require edits and recertification to comply with broadcast standards for family viewing, particularly for films originally cleared for adult audiences due to intense action or violence. Such modifications allow major blockbusters to reach broader home audiences on general entertainment movie channels without violating standard viewing guidelines.
