Prime Video Announces Return of Reality Show Alliance for Second Season

Streaming platform Prime Video has officially announced the second season of its reality series Alliance, which is set to premiere on January 14, 2027. Actor Kunal Kemmu will return to host the upcoming season.

Show Background

Alliance is the Indian adaptation of a globally acclaimed Dutch reality format created by John de Mol and is produced by Banijay Asia. The first season featured 16 celebrity contestants, known as Allies, who stayed inside a mysterious headquarters run by a governing entity called 'The System'. These contestants faced both physical and mental challenges while navigating shifting loyalties and secret missions. Season 1 also marked Prime Video's first-ever daily reality series globally, releasing fresh episodes every day at noon, and concluded in August with Mini Mathur emerging as the winner.

New Season Details

Leadership from both production and streaming teams have confirmed that the upcoming season will feature higher stakes, sharper gameplay, and an evolved version of 'The System'. Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, stated that the strong viewer response inspired the platform to bring the show back sooner rather than waiting a full year. Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, added that the new episodes will further test contestants through difficult choices and complex relationships. Mrinalini Jain, Group Chief Development Officer at Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, also confirmed that Kunal Kemmu will be back to guide the participants through the unpredictable game.

Context

Reality television formats that focus heavily on strategy, psychological pressure, and social alliances have gained significant popularity across Indian streaming platforms in recent years. Shows of this nature typically rely on controlled environments and changing rules to drive dramatic conflict among celebrity contestants. Such formats allow streaming services to retain daily viewer engagement over multi-week release schedules.
