Former Indian Army major and fitness coach Khushboo Patani shared a push-up guide on Instagram Reels on September 30 to help women build arm strength and self-confidence. Khushboo, the sister of actor Disha Patani, previously advised women to consider carrying an air pistol for self-defence.

Beginner Steps

For women who have never done a push-up, Khushboo advised lying down on the floor and pushing the body up using hand strength. Once comfortable with this basic movement and able to complete at least 20 repetitions, she recommended moving to knee push-ups. This variation involves getting into an all-fours position, extending the body slightly, and lowering the chest to touch the floor with control before pushing back up.

Advanced Push-Ups

For those who have built enough strength, Khushboo demonstrated the standard push-up. The exercise starts in an all-fours position before extending both legs backward into a plank with the stomach pulled inside. She advised lowering the body slowly from the head to the waist until the chest touches the floor, while keeping the movement controlled and continuing to practise over time.

Context

Physical fitness routines like push-ups are widely recommended by trainers for building upper-body strength without needing gym equipment. Social media platforms have increasingly become spaces where fitness coaches share step-by-step exercise progressions for home workouts.
