Building a consistent exercise habit relies more on mindset than daily motivation, according to Chennai-based fitness coach Raj Ganpath. Ganpath, who has over 18 years of experience, is the founder of the Slow Burn Method, co-founder and head coach at Quad Fitness, and author of Simple, Not Easy. He outlined five core rules in an Instagram video shared on September 28.

The Five Rules

The first rule is to show up every day, regardless of feeling tired, busy, lazy, or great. The second rule is to commit to at least 10 minutes of any movement, such as a walk, jog, stretching, or mobility yoga, after which you can freely choose to stop and go home without guilt. The third rule is to finish each workout by consciously telling yourself you will return the next day. The fourth rule involves acknowledging your effort with a tiny pat on the back, a treat, a post on Instagram stories, or sharing it with friends. The final rule is simply to repeat the process the next day.

Context

Fitness coaches often emphasize habit formation and mental consistency over high-intensity training to help people maintain long-term health routines. This approach focuses on lowering the barrier to entry so that daily exercise feels manageable rather than overwhelming.
