Deepak Nitrite shares surged by up to nine percent in Friday's trading session following the release of strong financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 financial year. The stock opened at 1,580 rupees per share on the National Stock Exchange, up from the previous close of 1,476 rupees, and touched an intraday high of 1,615 rupees on October 30.

Financial Results

The company reported a net profit of 398 crore rupees for the quarter, more than triple the 118.7 crore rupees posted in the same period of the previous financial year. Revenue grew by 61.7 percent year-on-year to reach 3,076 crore rupees, compared to 1,901.9 crore rupees previously. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation climbed to 627 crore rupees from 204.3 crore rupees, while the operating profit margin doubled to 20.4 percent.

Plant Operations

In addition to the earnings report, the company announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Deepak Chem Tech Limited, started manufacturing operations at a new chlorination and specialty chemicals plant in Dahej, Gujarat, on September 29. The business spent roughly 300 crore rupees on the project before production began.

Stock Returns

Despite the recent single-day surge and a weekly gain of 4.93 percent, the company's shares have faced broader pressure over longer periods. The stock dropped 0.76 percent over the past month and is down 10.77 percent year-to-date, with longer-term negative returns recorded over one, three, and five-year spans.

Context

Strong quarterly financial results often drive sudden upward price movements in listed equities as investors react to higher profit margins and revenue growth. Chemical manufacturers regularly invest large capital sums into new production facilities to expand their product lines and long-term output capabilities.
