Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced that the decision was taken by consensus after heavy rain lashed the capital, bringing 61.4 mm of rainfall in 24 hours as the India Meteorological Department maintained a red alert.

Venue And Details

The event will now take place around 3 p.m. at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's official residence, with former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar set to preside over the proceedings. Samajwadi Party leader Dharmendra Yadav joined Mr. Gandhi in addressing the media, while the opposition bloc maintains that the protest over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls will avoid imagery mocking Parliament as an institution.

Context

This protest centers on opposition concerns over voter rolls and electoral processes overseen by the Election Commission. Major political rallies in the capital require extensive logistical coordination between organizers, local authorities, and security forces.
