Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh addressed his recent controversies during a live concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 30. Performing in front of over 70,000 fans as part of his Aura India Tour 2026, Diljit responded to heavy criticism he faced earlier over the NEET paper leak protests. At the time, he had stated that people should keep him away from protests because he is an artist, which drew sharp attacks from Cockroach Janata Party leader Abhijeet Dipke.
The Response
During the concert, Diljit directly targeted the CJP and stated that while he loves his fans and supports them, no one should teach Punjabis how to fight. He also referenced the film about Jaswant Singh Kalra, noting that they fought long and hard for that movie despite it being mocked on stage. Following the show, Abhijeet Dipke shared an Instagram post responding to the singer's comments. Dipke admitted that while Diljit's past remark hurt him during their June protest, he remains a fan who attended Diljit's Chicago concert in May and still respects him for taking India to a global stage while staying true to his roots. Dipke urged the singer to let the matter go as a younger brother, ending his note with a traditional line.
Context
Live music concerts by major Punjabi artists often draw massive public crowds and intense media attention in the capital. Tensions between public figures and activist groups frequently play out across social media platforms and public stages alike.
