UPDATE - follow-up to INDIA bloc to hold 'public impeachment' of CEC Gyanesh Kumar today: The INDIA bloc will hold its public impeachment event and rally against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Saturday after rains forced a postponement from Friday.

March and Rally Details

Opposition leaders plan a Chalo Dilli march on November 1 from the Minto Road–Connaught Place junction to Ramlila Maidan. The protest targets alleged vote theft through the special intensive revision of electoral rolls and presses for the CEC's resignation. Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi claimed the Home Minister is trying to block people from reaching Delhi, an accusation the Bharatiya Janata Party rejected as a lie while demanding proof.

Traffic and Preparations

Delhi Police has permitted the gathering from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic restrictions and diversions in place across central Delhi intersections, including ITO, Delhi Gate, and Ajmeri Gate. Haryana Congress leaders have held planning meetings in Karnal, Panipat, and Sonipat to drive state participation. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and CPI General Secretary D Raja confirmed they will join the November 1 event, while CPI(M) MP John Brittas claimed ten lakh people will attend.

Context

Protests over voter list revisions and election administration are common flashpoints between major political coalitions in India. The Election Commission functions as the constitutional authority responsible for conducting free and fair polls across the country.
