Trailer Release

Actor Suriya returns to the screen as DSP Inbaraj in the newly released trailer for the crime comedy Scene. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film marks Suriya's third release this year following the action fantasy Karuppu and the romantic comedy Vishwanath and Sons. The story features the actor as a reluctant police officer who has resigned from the force and sits at home listening to music. When fellow officers arrive with orders, they physically lift him out of his house while he smokes calmly.

Cast And Crew

When his superior asks why he wants to resign at his career peak, Suriya's character states he wants to enter politics. Malayalam actor Naslen makes his Tamil cinema debut as Eeswaran Joseph, a character who causes chaos across the city. Director Jithu Madhavan also makes his Tamil debut after previously helming the Fahadh Faasil-starrer Aavesham. Nazriya Nazim returns to Tamil cinema after a 12-year gap to play Maya, described as an overstepping house help. Her last Tamil release was the 2014 movie Thirumanam Enum Nikkah.

Box Office Clash

Scene is co-produced by Suriya, Jyotika, and Jaishree Damodaran. The film hits theaters on November 6, just ahead of Diwali. It faces box office competition from the dubbed Tamil version of Nitesh Tiwari's Bollywood epic Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, which releases on November 5.

Context

Major holiday periods like Diwali are traditionally prime windows for film releases in India, often leading to high-profile box office clashes between multiple big-budget titles. Actor Suriya has maintained a steady output of films this year across different genres ranging from romantic comedy to action fantasy. Meanwhile, cross-industry talent exchanges between Malayalam and Tamil cinema continue to bring prominent actors and directors into new regional markets.
