Dhanush and Mammootty starrer OM gets November release date

New Date

Makers have announced that the pan-India action film OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood will now release in theatres on November 20, 2026. The new date follows a postponement from the original October 16 window to avoid a box office clash.

Avoiding Clashes

Dhanush stated that the film was delayed out of respect for Rajinikanth, whose movie Jailer 2 releases on October 15. The team also skipped the Diwali window to avoid competing with Suriya's film, noting that big projects should respect each other's dates for the industry's welfare.

Cast and Crew

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film features Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, and Naseeruddin Shah. Music is by Sai Abhyankkar, with cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K. and editing by R Kalaivanan.

Context

Major film industries often adjust release calendars to prevent big budget titles from competing on the same dates, protecting box office collections. Such schedule changes help ensure that each major release gets enough screens and audience attention during crowded festive seasons.
