Megastar Chiranjeevi and actor Jr NTR have strongly condemned an artificial intelligence-generated deepfake video that uses footage from the song Chuttamalle to depict actor Janhvi Kapoor in a sexually explicit way. The morphed video, which has since been taken down after circulating widely on social media, drew fierce backlash from both actors.
Action and Industry Response
Writing on X, Chiranjeevi called the video a cruel and shameful act, stating that he plans to take the matter up with the Telugu Film Chamber, the Producers' Council, and other industry bodies. He intends to recommend a dedicated support cell working alongside cyber crime authorities to remove such content and pursue legal action. He also urged the central and state governments to introduce strong measures against the misuse of artificial intelligence. Jr NTR also condemned the video on X using the words disgusting, sick, and shameless. He warned that he will take every possible legal action against those who created and spread the clip, while urging the public not to watch, share, or engage with it.
Context
Devara: Part 1 is a Telugu action drama released in September 2024, directed by Koratala Siva and starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, with the popular track Chuttamalle composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao. The incident highlights the growing concern surrounding non-consensual deepfake media targeting actors across the entertainment industry, prompting calls for stricter regulations from governments and law enforcement agencies.
