Jr NTR Vows Legal Action Over Morphed Chuttamalle Video of Janhvi Kapoor

Telugu actor Jr NTR has strongly condemned an artificial intelligence-generated deepfake video that uses footage from the song 'Chuttamalle' to show his Devara: Part 1 co-star Janhvi Kapoor in a sexually explicit and degrading way.

Reaction

Writing on X on Saturday, the actor described the material as disgusting, sick and shameless. He pointed out the contradiction between societal values that worship women and the reality of modern technology being misused to disrespect them. NTR stated that he will not spare the people behind the clip and plans to take every possible legal action against both the creators and those spreading it. He also urged the public not to watch, share or engage with such content, warning that similar abuse could target anyone's family members.

Government Action

Addressing the broader policy issue, the actor called on state governments and the Government of India to take strong action and introduce strict rules to prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence. The 'Chuttamalle' track is a romantic song from the 2024 action drama directed by Koratala Siva, featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander and lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry.

Context

This incident adds to a growing list of manipulated media targeting Indian film actresses over recent years, including prominent cases involving Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. Lawmakers and digital safety advocates continue to grapple with the rapid rise of deepfake technology and the lack of immediate safeguards to protect individuals from non-consensual media manipulation.
