Gold and silver prices have gone up on Wednesday, just before the Diwali festival. Expectations that Democrats might win control of the US Congress in the midterm elections caused the US dollar to fall in value. This drop in the dollar increased the global demand for precious metals. Spot gold prices rose by two percent in the international market, crossing the 4000 dollar mark per ounce once again.

Market Rates

By one o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, spot gold was trading at 4025 dollars per ounce, while silver stood at 51 dollars per ounce. The value of the Indian rupee was recorded at 94.84. Following global trends, the price of 24-karat gold in the Hyderabad bullion market reached 1.45 lakh rupees, including taxes. Silver prices in the city touched 1.90 lakh rupees per kilogram.

Futures Market

Compared to Tuesday's rates, gold increased by roughly 2500 rupees, and silver went up by about 5000 rupees. Prices also moved higher in the futures market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December traded at 1.42 lakh rupees for ten grams. Silver on the same exchange continued at 1.86 lakh rupees per kilogram.

Context

Precious metal prices in local markets often track global trends and currency values closely. Festive seasons like Diwali traditionally see high retail buying activity in India, making price movements during this period a major point of interest for buyers.
