Dianna Muller, founder of Women for Gun Rights, which briefly employed Wilkins as a spokeswoman, noted that life changed for her after Patel's confirmation. Patel has faced scrutiny for using government aircraft on trips lacking a clear law enforcement purpose. This includes taking an FBI jet to a pro-wrestling event in State College, Pennsylvania, where Wilkins sang the national anthem. Social media photos posted by Wilkins later showed the couple smiling while she held an oversized golden championship belt. Reports also revealed that Wilkins had a full-time protective team of Special Weapons and Tactics members from various US field offices who accompanied her to singing engagements and hair appointments. An FBI spokesman told The New York Times that active death threats against Wilkins made this level of protection necessary.
