Women in Film India has partnered with Google’s AI platform Flow to launch a nationwide Filmathon that lets filmmakers use artificial‑intelligence tools to create short movies. The contest invites participants to test Google Flow, a workspace built on the Gemini Omni and Veo models, for arranging scenes, batch‑editing clips and layering audio. Guneet Monga Kapoor, founder and chief executive of Women in Film India, said the programme gives creators a genuine sandbox to try new ideas and push their storytelling beyond traditional limits. Dr Arathi Sethumadhavan, director of International Activations & Product Insights at Google, noted that Flow is already gaining strong traction across India and the Filmathon will reveal how storytellers can stretch artistic expression with the technology. Rabia Chopra, head of programming and strategy at Women in Film India, added that the collaboration keeps the focus on the storyteller while offering a fresh digital studio. The initiative welcomes filmmakers at every stage, from beginners exploring visual narrative to seasoned artists seeking fresh techniques. Participants will receive hands‑on learning, experimentation time and a chance to turn concepts into finished shorts. The five highest‑rated entries will be screened at the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2026, linking the experiment to the country’s broader cinematic community. For Women in Film India, the Filmathon extends its mission to broaden access and meaningful chances for creators. For Google, it reinforces the company’s pledge to equip Indian creators with personal, inventive tools that help them tell their own stories. ## Context The Filmathon reflects a growing trend of AI tools entering creative fields, offering low‑cost, fast‑track options for visual storytelling while still relying on human imagination to shape the final narrative.
