Veteran actor Raza Murad said filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali often loses his temper on set, even shouting at top stars such as Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Raza told interviewer Vickey Lalwani that Bhansali’s anger stems from frustration when his vision is not understood, not from personal animosity. He added that the director’s outbursts are work‑related and can target anyone from assistants to leading actors. Murad likened Bhansali to legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, calling both perfectionists who ignore schedules or budgets to get the picture right. He recalled working with Kapoor on Prem Rog (1982), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) and Henna (1991). His own collaborations with Bhansali include Ram‑Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), Padmaavat (2018) and Gangubai Kathawadi (2022), all of which earned strong box‑office returns. Bhansali is now in post‑production on Love & War, a period romantic drama set against a war backdrop, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, with Supriya Pathak in a key role. The film, originally slated for release this year, has been pushed to 21 January 2027.

Context

Temperamental directors are a familiar trope in Bollywood, often linked to high‑budget, visually ambitious projects. Bhansali’s meticulous style has repeatedly produced commercial hits despite occasional on‑set tension.
