Reported by Ananya Das (Senior Writer) · Indian Express - Entertainment ·
Salman Khan has dismissed the idea of making a film about his own life while speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming project, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. Laughing off the question, the 60-year-old actor stated that a truthful account of his experiences would cause major trouble for many people.
Project Details And Delays
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the movie is now scheduled to release in cinemas on December 4, 2026, after facing multiple delays. Khan explained that the lengthy post-production process was mainly due to extensive visual effects work that the team needed to perfect for the big screen. The shooting schedule was also disrupted when leading actress Chitrangda Singh suffered an injury, requiring a longer recovery and physiotherapy period than initially anticipated by the crew.
Addressing Controversy
During the media interaction, Khan denied rumors that the movie's plot was altered due to political pressure or concerns regarding its portrayal of China. He clarified that the story does not target any country but instead focuses on soldiers from both sides and the physical confrontation of battle. The actor added that the project received clearance from the censor board without any cuts, while thanking the relevant government ministries and authorities.
Context
Biopics about prominent film stars are a popular trend in the Indian entertainment industry, but many high-profile actors choose to keep their personal lives off screen. Movie release dates often shift due to complex production needs like heavy visual effects or unexpected cast injuries during the filming schedule.
