Mahindra BE 7 Electric SUV Spied Testing In Mumbai With High-Precision Navigation Gear
Reported by Harshdeep Singh (Fact-Checker) · Rushlane ·
Mahindra is testing its upcoming BE 7 electric SUV in the BKC area of Mumbai, with recent spy photos showing the test vehicle fitted with high-precision satellite navigation equipment on the roof.
Vehicle Features And Testing
The test mule was spotted by a Reddit user and features heavy camouflage alongside automated flush door handles. The SUV is expected to be India's first mainstream vehicle to feature frameless doors. Exterior highlights include a clamshell bonnet, large C-shaped lights, large wheels, and a hidden rear washer and wiper. The charging flap sits on the rear left quarter panel, and the BE 7 has a larger, more SUV-like shape compared to the BE 6 model.
Technology And Equipment
The extra roof equipment appears to be Global Navigation Satellite System receivers that help locate the vehicle down to a centimeter. This hardware suggests the vehicle might test next-generation navigation or location-based driver assistance systems. Inside, the SUV is expected to feature a triple screen dashboard, ventilated seats, a 16-speaker Harman audio system, and Level-2+ driver assistance.
Context
Automakers routinely test new electric vehicles on public roads under heavy camouflage to check their performance and onboard technology in real-world conditions. Global Navigation Satellite Systems use networks of satellites to track exact positions on Earth for transport and mapping. Mahindra is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with multiple new models joining its portfolio over the coming years.
