Motorsport firm JAS Motorsport is bringing back the spirit of the iconic first-generation Honda NSX through a heavily updated, limited-run vehicle named the Tensei. Only 35 units of the car will be built, with each model tailored to the specific tastes of its buyer at the company facility near Milan.
Design And Build
Pininfarina handled the exterior styling of the Tensei, creating an Italian look for the Japanese platform while keeping familiar proportions from the original Honda icon. The Italian design firm previously worked on the HP-X concept that came before the production NSX. The outer shell is built completely out of carbon fibre to keep the weight down while altering the vehicle dimensions.
Engine And Specs
Behind the cabin sits a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine developed alongside British engineering firm Judd Power. The motor features a billet crankshaft, forged lightweight pistons and connecting rods, individual throttle bodies, better cooling, and new ignition setups. It puts out 420 horsepower and can spin up to an 8,500 rpm redline. The setup deliberately avoids turbochargers or hybrid systems to focus on driver response. Power goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
Context
Restomods and continuation-style projects have grown popular as car builders look for ways to blend classic mechanical feel with modern materials. This project relies on decades of track experience from JAS combined with high-end Italian design and British engine tuning.
