Reported by Rohit Yadav (Staff Writer) · The Hindu - National ·

Rajajinagar Police have recovered two more bodies near the foothills of Chamundi Hills in Mysuru, bringing the total number of bodies found in the case to five.
Investigation Details
The newly recovered bodies are suspected to be those of Shivakumar and his wife Divya, who were the accused Indushekhar's brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Police conducted a spot inspection with the accused during the recovery on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Investigators state that Indushekhar allegedly murdered seven of his relatives, including his wife, over a period of 15 days. He is suspected of packing the bodies in gunny bags and transporting them in his car to dump them at various locations. Earlier recoveries include the bodies of the accused's wife Sunita and mother-in-law Rupavathi in Salem on Saturday, November 7, 2026, alongside a young boy's body found near Nandi Hills. Another special police team is currently searching for the remaining two missing bodies at Shiradi Ghat, while the accused remains in police custody for intensive interrogation regarding the motive and sequence of events.
Context
Multistate murder investigations involving victims transported across different regions typically require coordination between police forces from multiple districts and states, such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in this case. Police custody allows investigators to question suspects under legal guidelines to gather crucial evidence like disposal sites. Such complex searches often rely heavily on the accused leading teams to remote forest areas where bodies were concealed.
