Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy celebrated Deepavali with a beneficiary of the Indiramma housing scheme at Parsapur village in Kodangal mandal on November 8, 2026, inaugurating the newly built home of Goripalli Sumitra and Srinivas, presenting new clothes and sharing a traditional fine‑rice meal. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Ministers Seethakka, Jupally Krishna Rao, Damodar Rajanarasimha and other elected representatives joined the family for lunch. The event, called ‘Maa Indiramma Intlo Deepavali’, was designed by the chief minister to bring the housing programme to the people and mark the festival with families who received permanent homes. He had earlier asked ministers, MLAs and other representatives to spend Deepavali with scheme beneficiaries in their constituencies, turning the celebration into a people‑focused activity. Later in the day the chief minister also inaugurated a science museum at Kosgi, a primary health centre at Balampet, police stations at Dudyala and Kodangal, a high school and junior college at Hakimpet and a new junior college building at Doulatabad, all within his constituency. Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said about 2.21 lakh Indiramma houses are now completed statewide. The government has sanctioned 4.5 lakh houses in the first phase and another 2.5 lakh in the second phase, with plans for an additional one lakh homes in Hyderabad’s urban area. Around ₹40,000 crore has been set aside for the two phases and the urban programme, while ₹7,634 crore has already been released to beneficiaries for construction assistance. Each house includes two rooms, a kitchen and a toilet, with 3,500 houses earmarked per assembly constituency in the first phase. ## Context The Indiramma scheme is the flagship housing effort of the current government, aimed at providing permanent homes to eligible poor families, a promise made by the Congress before the 2023 Assembly elections.
