New Venture

Gabriel India is branching out from its traditional suspension and ride-control business by teaming up with French automotive technology company Forvia to build high-end vehicle seats for the domestic market. The newly formed entity, named Faurecia ANAND Seating India Private Limited, gives Forvia a narrow majority ownership of fifty percent plus one share, while Gabriel India holds the remaining fifty percent minus one share. Financial terms of the agreement have not been made public, and specific production timelines or vehicle models remain unannounced.

Leadership Perspectives

ANAND Group vice-chairman Jaisal Singh described the move as a natural progression for Gabriel India toward becoming a comprehensive mobility solutions provider. Executive chairperson Anjali Singh emphasized that the collaboration brings together complementary strengths to meet the evolving demands of the vehicle manufacturing sector. This project also builds upon a pre-existing business relationship between the two corporate groups.

Market Shift

Vehicle manufacturers are increasingly looking for suppliers that can deliver entire integrated systems rather than single components. Modern car seats now demand complex structural engineering, ergonomics, safety integration, and various adjustment mechanisms. At the same time, Indian consumers are showing higher demand for cabin comfort and feature-rich passenger cars, particularly in the growing SUV segment.

Context

Component makers frequently form corporate partnerships to combine international design expertise with established local manufacturing networks. This strategy helps suppliers deliver complex sub-assemblies closer to vehicle assembly plants while meeting strict quality and cost expectations.
