Mahindra has been seen testing a Thar Roxx prototype fitted with DaVinci suspension and a new alloy‑wheel design. The wheels resemble the original Thar (OG) alloys, hinting that Mahindra may roll out the same style for Roxx. Exterior shape stays familiar – circular headlamps, signature grille, wide arches, side steps and the five‑door silhouette remain unchanged. Spy shots under the body and wheel wells reveal the DaVinci suspension that debuted on the Thar OG, now moving to Roxx. Current Roxx models use frequency‑dependent damping; the DaVinci upgrade adds revised internal valving to better balance bump absorption and body control, though final ride quality will depend on Roxx‑specific tuning. The upgrade matters for the Roxx’s family‑oriented, five‑door layout, where comfort on rough roads complements its off‑road chops. Pricing starts at Rs 12.52 lakh and climbs to about Rs 23.53 lakh for top trims, across MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, AX7L and Star Edition variants. Powertrains include a 2.0‑litre turbo‑petrol and a 2.2‑litre diesel, each paired with a 6‑speed manual or torque‑converter automatic. Petrol units deliver 160 bhp/330 Nm (manual) and 174 bhp/380 Nm (auto); diesel units put out 150 bhp/330 Nm (manual) and 172 bhp/400 Nm (auto). Rear‑wheel drive is offered with both engines, while four‑wheel drive is limited to diesel models. Standard equipment features a panoramic sunroof, 10.25‑inch touchscreen, 10.25‑inch digital cluster, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat and a nine‑speaker Harman Kardon system; higher trims add a 360° camera and Level 2 ADAS. With the new suspension and wheel design, Mahindra may price the updated Roxx above existing versions, but the exact increase will be confirmed at launch.

Context

The Thar line is Mahindra’s flagship off‑road SUV, and the DaVinci suspension is the company’s latest effort to blend rugged capability with on‑road comfort. Applying it to the Roxx version aligns with the model’s shift toward a more family‑friendly, everyday SUV.
