The devotional film Hanuman Ansh, based on the life of spiritual guru Neem Karoli Baba and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, has crossed Rs 435.37 crores in total worldwide collections after running in theaters for over two months.
Box Office Numbers
Made on a modest budget of Rs 2 crores, the film earned Rs 2.80 crore net in India on its tenth Sunday alone, marking a 12 percent growth in collections. Its total net collection in India stands at Rs 334.48 crores, with a gross domestic total of Rs 394.92 crores and Rs 40.45 crores gross from overseas markets. On its 66th day, the film ran across 2,775 shows.
Tough Competition
Despite its strong turnaround, Hanuman Ansh faces heavy competition from Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak. Within 10 days of release, Drishyam 3 has amassed a worldwide collection of Rs 479.80 crores, pushing Hanuman Ansh by one position to become the second biggest hit of 2026 behind Dhurandhar 2 according to recent reports.
Producer's Journey
Producer Anupriya Nagar revealed that the industry initially declared the film a flop on its eighth day after a slow start in its first two weeks, when screen counts dropped from 300 to 30. The project survived through strong word-of-mouth and eventually expanded to release overseas on September 11 and recently in Telugu markets.
Context
Word-of-mouth promotion is often crucial for smaller devotional or content-driven films that lack star power or large initial marketing budgets, allowing them to overcome poor opening-week performance if audiences connect with the message. Neem Karoli Baba was a prominent Indian spiritual guru with a large following both in India and abroad, inspiring several prominent figures.
