Mahindra will launch a CNG version of the XUV 3XO compact SUV on October 15, expanding the vehicle's fuel choices beyond petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains.
Powertrain and Design
The upcoming CNG model is expected to use a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with multi-point fuel injection, which generates 111hp and 200Nm in standard petrol versions. A teaser video reveals a body-coloured panel between the headlamps featuring slim metallic inserts next to the Mahindra Twin Peaks logo. The closed-off grille design looks similar to the RevX range, hinting that the CNG option might be tied to those variants. The teaser also confirms the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof, while other exterior features stay mostly the same as the regular model.
Context
This launch makes the XUV 3XO the third compact SUV in the Indian market to offer a CNG option, joining competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon. Carmakers increasingly offer factory-fitted CNG kits to appeal to buyers looking for lower running costs without giving up alternative fuel choices.
