Volvo India has launched its new flagship electric SUV, the Volvo EX90, priced at Rs 1.26 crore ex-showroom. This model becomes the brand's most expensive and advanced offering in the country, sitting above the petrol-powered XC90 in the lineup.
Booking Offers
Bookings are currently open for buyers. Customers who book the vehicle before December 31, 2026, receive a complimentary 11 kW AC charger, a three-year service package, and an assured buyback scheme that promises 65 percent of the value after three years. Buyers can pick from six exterior paint shades: Crystal White, Denim Blue, Mulberry Red, Onyx Black, Sand Dune, and Vapour Grey.
Design and Dimensions
The exterior features a minimalist design with a closed-off front grille, flush door handles, and glossy black underbody cladding. The vehicle includes Pixel-style Thor's Hammer LED DRLs that conceal the main headlights until they pop up for use. At the sides, it rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with an upright stance and flush-fitting doors. The rear features vertical brake lights and C-shaped LED tail light signatures flanking the rear windshield. The SUV measures 5,037 mm long, 1,964 mm wide, and 1,747 mm tall, with a 2,985 mm wheelbase. Its standard ground clearance sits at 213 mm, but the all-wheel air suspension system can raise it up to 250 mm.
Interior and Features
The cabin comes in lighter dual-tone interior shades and features a 14.5-inch portrait-style infotainment display with built-in Google services. Most physical controls have been removed in favor of screen integration, supported by a separate 9-inch horizontal instrument cluster. The Indian-market version comes as a six-seater layout with three rows, featuring second-row captain seats that slide and recline for extra legroom. Standard boot space measures 324 liters, expanding to 690 liters when folding the third row, alongside a 46-liter front trunk. Additional equipment includes a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, advanced driver assistance systems, auto park, a 360-degree camera, and a digital key.
Context
Luxury car manufacturers are expanding their electric vehicle portfolios in India to meet growing demand for high-end zero-emission transport. Flagship electric SUVs often serve as technological showcases for brands, introducing advanced driver assistance features and premium connectivity options that eventually trickle down to lower segments. The inclusion of guaranteed buyback schemes helps reassure buyers transitioning from traditional internal combustion engines to battery-powered vehicles.
