BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the new F 450 RR, making it the third motorcycle built on the brand's 420cc engine platform following the F 450 GS and the F 450 R. This trio of motorcycles is manufactured by TVS at its Hosur plant in India.

Performance And Build

Power comes from a 420cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that pushes out 48 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The bike hits 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 177 km/h, with a fuel efficiency of 3.8 litres per 100 km from its 14-litre tank. The base variant has a kerb weight of 177 kg, which goes up to 178 kg with the Easy Ride Clutch. Suspension features a 43 mm KYB USD fork and a KYB rear shock with adjustable preload and rebound damping, while braking relies on a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a ByBre caliper.

Variants And Features

The motorcycle is offered in four configurations: Base, Sport, M Sport, and M Sport with Innovation Package. Colour choices include Cosmic Black for the Base variant, Racing Red for the Sport variant, and Snaefell White with M Motorsport colours for the two M Sport versions. Standard equipment includes a 6.5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, three ride modes named Rain, Road and Race, and dual-channel lean-sensitive ABS Pro. The standard seat height is set at 790 mm, with optional seats available to either lower it to 775 mm or raise it to 810 mm.

Context

These mid-capacity motorcycles are part of BMW's growing partnership with TVS to produce smaller-displacement bikes in India for both local and global markets. Such manufacturing collaborations help luxury brands lower production costs while offering high-end features to a wider group of riders.
