What Happened

A routine dispute over a chair during a Navratri garba celebration on October 15 at Srijan Sky Flats in Ahmedabad's New Naroda area quickly escalated into a violent attack. Nidhi Ladva and Hinaben Panchal got into a heated argument over seating arrangements, which initially brought Nidhi's father Chhaganbhai to the spot before other society members intervened to settle the matter. Shortly after this initial compromise, Hitendra Ladva and another person arrived on a motorcycle and started shouting abuses in support of Nidhi, prompting society chairman and traffic police head constable Anil Nayak to send them outside.

The Attack

Minutes after the first group left, four men arrived on two Activas carrying wooden sticks and began creating a ruckus near the gate. One man removed his shirt in public, hurled abuses, and struck Anil Nayak with a stick. As the chairman tried to intervene and defame the situation, Ansh Ladva, Mahavirsinh Rana, Krutarthsinh Raol, and another individual entered the premises and started a physical fight. Ansh Ladva hit Anil Nayak on the head with a sharp punch-like weapon, leaving him bleeding and severely injured before the attackers fled as residents rushed to the spot.

Police Action

The entire sequence of events was captured on the society's CCTV cameras. Naroda police reached the location immediately after receiving information and registered a formal case based on the complaint. Authorities used the video footage to identify suspects and have detained two accused persons so far, while continuing legal proceedings against everyone involved.

Context

Festive gatherings in residential apartment complexes often bring large numbers of residents into close quarters, where minor disagreements over shared spaces can sometimes flare up unexpectedly. Local police stations routinely monitor such public celebrations during major festivals like Navratri to maintain public order and address sudden disputes before they escalate. Investigators rely heavily on residential security cameras to track down suspects in localized neighborhood clashes.
