French Art Group Brings Music and Live Sketches to Hyderabad

UPDATE - follow-up to French quartet blends music, storytelling and live art at Hyderabad performance: French performance group La Voyage de Rézé performed at the State Art Gallery in Madhapur on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The four-member ensemble presented a one-hour show that mixed original music, familiar tunes, lesser-known melodies, and cultural influences from around the world. During the concert, an artist drew sketches live on stage, and these illustrations were projected onto a screen to match the music in real time.

Organisers and Members

The French Institute in India presented the show in partnership with the Alliance Française de Hyderabad. The group features Rézé, who is a guitarist, singer, and composer with musical roots in jazz as well as African and Brazilian traditions. Soifran plays percussion and sings, bringing African, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian rhythms to the performance. Emé works as the illustrator creating live sketches, while Christoo manages video projections, photography, and artistic production. Rézé previously spent time travelling through West Africa at age 20 by hitchhiking, visiting countries like Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Benin, which shaped the group's cross-cultural style.
