He posted a brief note in Hindi asking forgiveness and saying he cannot write anything while he recovers. He did not reveal the medical reason behind the advice. Earlier this week he had mentioned a fall on the Kaun Banega Crorepati set that bruised his left knee and made him skip his usual opening speech.

The statement arrived as rumors about his health and possible retirement had been swirling online. Last month a cryptic Tumblr post sparked talk of him quitting acting, but he later clarified that the message only meant he was going to sleep, not that he was retiring. In May, media reports claimed he was admitted to Nanavati Hospital; those reports clarified it was a routine monthly check‑up and he left the same day.

Upcoming Projects

Despite the brief pause, Bachchan’s work schedule remains full. He will return as Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s sequel to the sci‑fi film Kalki 2898 AD, joining stars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. He also continues as the host of the current season of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
