Hollywood star Tom Cruise debuted his latest film, "Digger", at a star-studded royal premiere in London on Tuesday, attended by Britain's Prince William and Princess Kate. Cruise described his role as eccentric oil tycoon Digger Rockwell as completely wild and unlike anything he had seen before. The production took nearly ten years under the direction of Oscar-winner Alejandro G. Inarritu. To play the part, Cruise underwent a major physical transformation featuring grey hair, facial prosthetics, and a padded bodysuit, but he noted that the hardest part was a ten-minute monologue shot in a single take. In the movie, Rockwell accidentally causes an environmental disaster that brings the world close to nuclear war before he tries to fix it. The plot has been kept mostly secret, though filmmakers denied rumours that the project is a musical. Co-star Sandra Huller called Cruise's performance remarkable, noting that all his experience from 46 years of acting came together for the role. Other cast members, including Sophie Wilde, Emma D'Arcy, and Michael Stuhlbarg, praised the director's intense focus on detail, rhythm, and changing scenes during production. The movie hits theatres globally on September 30, followed by releases in the United States and the United Kingdom on October 2.
