India secured two nominations at the International Emmy Awards 2026, which were announced on Wednesday. The web series Real Kashmir Football Club picked up a nomination in the Drama Series category. Comedian Vir Das earned a nomination in the Comedy category for his stand-up special Vir Das: Fool Volume.

Real Kashmir FC

Real Kashmir Football Club premiered in December 2025 on SonyLIV. The show stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. Directors Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai helmed the series, which draws from the real-life story of Real Kashmir FC, the first professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir. The show competes against A Thousand Blows, Careme, and Menem. Manav Kaul shared his excitement about the nod, calling the series one of his favorite works and praising the team's hard work.

Vir Das's Record

Vir Das earned his third career International Emmy nomination with Fool Volume. This makes him the only Indian to receive three nominations at the awards. He previously earned a nomination in 2021 for Netflix special Vir Das: For India. He secured his second nomination and won an Emmy in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing. His current special competes alongside Division Palermo: Season 2, Man vs Baby, and Old Dog, New Tricks. Vir noted that the special came from a time when he lost his voice, expressing gratitude to Netflix and his team.
