Trailer of the upcoming film Udta Teer reveals Ayushmann Khurrana as a Pakistani intelligence operative who, after a mishap, loses his memory and begins to think he is an Indian citizen. In the teaser a character mocks India's habit of sending spies to Pakistan and declares that now a Pakistani agent will infiltrate India. Khurrana’s character is fed a false back‑story, including a claim by Sara Ali Khan’s role that his parents were killed by Pakistani terrorists. Believing the story, he joins an Indian counter‑terrorism unit and adopts a mission to safeguard the nation. The promotional material promises a brand‑new take on patriotism, describing it as 'deshbhakti like never before.' The trailer also boasts a line that the country’s deadliest spy has become its biggest nightmare. A later scene shows Khurrana chasing a man named Bilal Ahmed, when a squad mate shouts that he is indeed Bilal Ahmed, comparing the moment to scenes from classic border films. The film is directed by first‑time filmmaker Aakash Kaushik and features a supporting cast that includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Raghubir Yadav, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Smita Tambe and the late Mukul Dev. Music is composed by Sachin Jigar with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya; Harshvir Oberai handles cinematography and Prerna Saigal edits. Producers Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain have signed the project. Udta Teer is slated to open in theatres worldwide on Friday, October 9.
