Krishna Mukerji, mother of actor Rani Mukerji, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 75. Her family confirmed the death in a statement and asked the media for privacy during their time of grief. Following the news, many people from the film industry gathered to pay their last respects. Filmmaker Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Gauri Khan arrived together for the funeral. Actor Anil Kapoor, filmmaker and cousin Ayan Mukerji, Alia Bhatt, and Apoorva Mehta were also spotted by the paparazzi at the venue. Krishna Mukerji was a playback singer who sang the song Idd Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja from the 1982 film Teesri Aankh. She was married to filmmaker Ram Mukerji, who helped found Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai and directed films like Hum Hindustani and Leader. Krishna encouraged Rani to act, though she initially doubted her skills after seeing her first screen test for the 1996 movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. Rani later became one of the top actors in the Hindi film industry, starring in films such as Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
