Vir Das gets third International Emmy nomination for stand-up special Fool Volume

Nomination Details

Actor and comedian Vir Das has scored his third International Emmy nomination, with his stand-up comedy special Fool Volume picked in the comedy special category. He shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday to thank his fans, writing about the third nod for India. Fool Volume is up against Division Palermo Season 2, Man vs Baby, and Old Dog, New Tricks.

Background And Origins

Fool Volume premiered on Netflix on July 18 last year after being filmed across Mumbai, New York, and London. The special stems from an experience where Vir lost his voice before the biggest show of his career, turning that period of silence into a show about self-doubt, silence, and rediscovering joy. It marks his fifth Netflix special, making him the first Indian comedian to reach that milestone. Vir previously won an International Emmy for Best Comedy in 2023 for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing, tying with the British series Derry Girls Season 3, and received his first nomination in 2021 for Vir Das: For India. He also hosted the International Emmy Awards ceremony.

Reactions

Speaking about the nomination, Vir said that a show born from losing his voice traveling this far feels surreal and brings him back into the conversation after his past projects. Actor Hrithik Roshan praised the special on social media by calling it the best stand-up show ever, to which Vir responded that the praise made his life.
