Why The Delay
Actor Dhanush has officially postponed the release of his upcoming Tamil film OM to avoid a box office clash with superstar Rajinikanth. The movie was earlier set to arrive in theaters on October 16, 2026.
Respect For Seniors
Writing on X, Dhanush explained that shifting the date comes with challenges. Out of immense respect for Rajinikanth, whose film arrives on October 15, the team decided to move OM to a later date. He added that big films must respect each other and keep the industry's welfare in mind.
Avoiding Diwali Clash
Dhanush also confirmed that the film will skip Diwali this year because Suriya has already announced his film for the same festive date. The team noted that since other stars announced their dates first, stepping back is the fair choice. A brand new release date for OM will be shared soon.
Star Cast And Awards
OM is directed by Rajkumar and stars Dhanush alongside Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela. The project is backed by Wunderbar Films and R Take Studios, with music by Sai Abhyankkar. Members of the team recently celebrated their wins at the 72nd National Film Awards, where Dhanush, Mammootty, director Rajkumar, and editor R Kalaivanan all picked up honors.
